India's most famous circuit in a few unhurried days: the monuments of Delhi, the Taj Mahal at Agra and the forts and palaces of Jaipur.
There is a reason the Golden Triangle is the first trip many travellers take in North India. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur sit close enough to link by road, yet each tells a very different story, from Mughal grandeur to Rajput colour.
Delhi sets the scene with India Gate, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. The drive to Agra leads to the obvious highlight, the Taj Mahal at sunrise, along with Agra Fort and a stop at Fatehpur Sikri on the way to Jaipur.
Jaipur, the Pink City, is the flourish at the end: the Amber Fort above the city, the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the honeycomb facade of the Hawa Mahal. Four or five days is enough to enjoy all three without feeling like you are only passing through.
